How to Make Fall Wreaths for Your Front Door
Don’t let your door go unnoticed. A fall wreath can brighten and change the whole look of your porch. Fall wreaths can be purchased from $25 upwards of $120 depending on where you purchase them. Why not make your own fall wreath for a lot less? You can save money on an investment in your home and increase the value of your home with just a decoration.
When making your fall wreath think of what makes fall. You will want to use fall colors as well. Orange, yellow, red, brown, and dark green are colors you should use. Use items that are festive and part of fall. For example pumpkins, sun flowers, gourds, wheat, pine cones, acorns, apples, and changing color leaves are some of the items to use. Most of these items you can either find the imitations of in craft stores, Wal-mart, or even Dollar Tree. If it is a wreath you are wanting to use over and over do not use real materials.
One of my favorite starts to a wreath is the twig wreath. You can buy these to start your fall wreath project. These are most places crafts are sold. I like to add colored leaves and pine cones to this wreath. It is very simple but also very attractive. This is a fall wreath that will catch your attention with simplicity. Sometimes less is more.
Another idea for using the twig wreath is to wrap fall fabric into the twig part. I would use plaid with orange, brown, and gold colors. Use leaves, pumpkins, gourds, wheat stalks, acorns and imitation berries. Evenly distribute each item for a balanced look. Add a bow made out of the fabric or ribbon you used around the wreath.
If you like dark red, a beautiful idea is to use the twig wreath and for decoration on the wreath use red leaves, berries, and apples. This will brighten any door up. If your door is a red or brownish red I wouldn’t recommend using this wreath. Otherwise this fall wreath is very festive and fall looking.
If you want filler for the wreaths I recommend hydrangea. You can actually spray the flower any color you want. If you buy imitation ones you should be able to buy the color of your choice. Baby’s breath is great for spring and summer wreaths, but wheat sprigs are what you want for a fall wreath.
Remember you can use whatever you like to see in the fall. A fall wreath will make your porch warm and inviting.
