1
Find your weighing machine
The first thing you need to find your weighing machine. If you do not own one, buy yourself one as it is impossible for you to check your weight without it. Make sure it is properly calibrated and check for zero error. If the needle is not on 0 by default, make the necessary adjustment or take it to the nearest repair shop to get the error fixed. -
2
Note down the starting weight
Get on the machine before kicking off your diet or exercise routine to determine what your starting weight is. This reading is extremely important as it will play a key role in the calculation of weight loss percentage. Therefore, note it down on a piece of paper and keep it somewhere where it will be easy to find later. You can alternatively save it in an Excel spreadsheet and keep the file on the desktop of your computer. An ideal time to take the reading is right after you wake up early in the morning, when you stomach will be empty. -
3
Check current weight
Check your weight again whenever you see fit, be it after a few weeks or a month. Try to make sure that you measure the weight at the same time of the day as the one at which you checked your starting weight. Also make sure to check the weight before eating anything. Once again, ideal time to take this reading is early morning. -
4
Grab a calculator
Keep both your starting weight and current weight in front of you and grab a calculator as you will be required to do some mathematics. -
5
Calculate number of pounds/kg lost
Subtract your current weight from the weight that you had noted down before starting your diet or exercise routine. This will give you the number of pounds since you started your routine. -
6
Calculate weight loss percentage
Divide the number of pounds lost, calculated in the previous step, by your starting weight. Multiply the result by 100 to obtain your weight loss percentage.
