How to Lose Weight for Boot Camp

Preparing yourself for boot camp is a very enjoyable experience, but when you go through all the paperwork and testing, you realise that you have to lose weight in order to finally put pen to paper. However, there is no need to panic. You should know that most branches of the service will check your body fat percentage even if you are overweight. Therefore, getting geared up for boot camp will require a lot of muscle training.

    Start dieting and exercise

    Try to avoid sugar, soda and sweet treats and have a healthy diet instead. In boot camp, they will not allow you to taste any of the above mentioned things. As a result, it is better to cut them out before you join the boot camp. It is advisable to reduce your weight or get rid of any shock your body is suffering from a couple of months before your deployment. Also, exercise three to five times a week. You should start physical activity at least one to two months before you leave for boot camp, depending on how much weight you have to lose. Do different workouts so that you are working all your body parts. Perform cardio and muscle training on alternate days, as it will gear you up for physical training when you join the camp.

    Drink water regularly

    Have lots of water because it flushes out toxins and keeps your body hydrated. It also aids in regulating the digestive system and makes you feel fuller so that you eat less. Drink 12 to 16 ounce glass of water before every meal, then eat and finish with the exact amount of water. You will see that you will start eating less food and will mostly be full on water.

    Workout daily

    Perform three sets of pushups every other day, other than your normal workout routine. This will aid you in turning excess body fat into lean muscle, which in effect will reduce your weight. On the other hand, it is common knowledge that every branch of the army ends their training with a P.T. (Physical Training) test. This test generally involves a specific number of sit-ups, push-ups and a one-mile long run. Also, go to a fitness center and check your body fat percentage, to see if you meet the requirements of the military.
