West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot Review

I’ve always wanted to eat fondue at home so when I saw the West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot, I decided to place an order. The product claims to be able to handle a wide range of temperature for hot oil fondues and chocolate fondues. I was already thinking of beef fondues and cheese fondues and dessert fondues. I immediately planned a dinner party with the West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot as the highlight.

Overall, I am very happy with my West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot. The pot cooks fondue so well. I’ve tried all kinds of fondue and they have all turned out to my expectations. I was a little worried about clean-up but since it’s nonstick, this hasn’t been a problem. Like all nonstick cookware, you just need to be extra careful during clean-up. I use warm soapy water and a soft sponge. The fondue pot can also be cleaned in the dishwasher (just don’t forget to take off the power cord) but I haven’t tried this yet.

I also appreciate that the West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot is big in size. This makes it easy to entertain. A friend of mine made a comment that her own fondue pot is so small that she often has to refill the pot. This is not a problem with the West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot.

It is unfortunate that like several electric cookware I own, the power cord of the West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot is way too short. I don’t understand why manufacturers always make this mistake. Is it to save money? If this is the case, how irritating! Another problem I have with the West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot is the temperature setting. It is just way too hot. I tried to put it on warm and it started boiling. I wonder if this is a factory defect. So if you’re having some cheese fondue, keep it at the lowest temperature setting. But even then, be sure to warm your guests lest they burn their tongues.

You should also ask your friends to be careful with the forks. This fondue pot is nonstick and the forks are really sharp. They may end up scratching the pot and this would be a disaster. I mentioned it to my friends and they were very happy to oblige.

If you’ve always wanted to have fondue at home, the West Bend 88533 3-Quart Electric Fondue Pot is a good buy. Just remember to be careful with the temperature.
