Ingredients
  • For cookies:
  • Butter – ½ cup
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Egg – 1
  • Run extract – 1 tsp
  • Flour – 1 ½ cup
  • Cocoa powder – ⅓ cup
  • Salt – ¼ tsp
  • Baking soda – ¼ tsp
  • Baking powder – ¼ tsp
  • Maraschino cherries – 30
  • Sugar (for coating) – 2 tbsp
  • For Glaze:
  • Confectioners’ sugar – 1 cup
  • Run extract – 1 tsp
  • Maraschino cherry juice – 4 tsp
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  2. Take butter, sugar, egg, and rum extract and put them all in a large bowl.
  3. Take a whisker and beat them hard until the mixture become fluffy.
  4. Take flour, cocoa, salt, baking soda, and baking powder and mix them, before blending it with the previously made butter mixture.
  5. Take one table spoon of dough and spread it on the surface.
  6. Take a cherry and place it over the dough. Mould the dough around the cherry and roll the ball into sugar
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
  8. Take cookies and place them on an non-greased baking sheet.
  9. There must be at least 2-inch distance between each cookie.
  10. Bake the cookies for around 8 minutes, prior to cooling on a rack.
  11. To create the glaze, take confectioners' sugar, rum extract and maraschino cherry juice and whisk them thoroughly to create a creamy mixture.
  12. After the mixture becomes light and fluffy, pour it one by one over each cookie.
