Cakes have been a vital part of many important occasions and out of all the sweet delicacies available, a Chocolate cake is probably the most famous. There are a host of Chocolate cakes available in the market including ‘Death by Chocolate’, ‘Black Forest’ and ‘Moist Chocolate’. But the ‘German Chocolate Cake’ is one of the lesser known.
Ingredients
  • German Sweet Chocolate- 4 ounce
  • Water- 1 cup
  • Evaporated milk- 1 cup
  • Cake flour- 2.5 cups
  • Butter (softened)- 1 cup
  • Sugar- 2 cups
  • Buttermilk- 1 cup
  • Baking soda- 1 teaspoon
  • Eggs- 4
  • Flaked coconut- 1.5 cups
Instructions
  1. Add the German sweet chocolate and water in a bowl and heat in a microwave.
  2. When melted, mix the two and set it aside to cool.
  3. Make sure the mixture is well combined.
  4. For best results, use a wooden spatula.
  5. In a separate bowl, add the baking soda, cake flour and salt.
  6. Stir the mixture and set it aside for use afterwards.
  7. Heat the oven at a temperature of 175°C or 350°F.
  8. In another large bowl, add the butter and sugar, and stir until it gets light.
  9. Now add four egg yolks and blend the mixture to make sure everything is good.
  10. Add the German Sweet chocolate-water which was put aside to cool down to the mixture.
  11. Next add the baking soda, cake flour and salt combo to the large bowl and stir the mixture heavily to make sure everything is nicely blended.
  12. Now pour the mixture into 3-9 inch pans and put the pans in the pre-heated oven for the next half hour.
  13. To check whether the cake is done or not, insert a toothpick in the centre of the cake and if it comes out clean and easy, the mixture is done.
  14. For the filling, add a cup of butter, 1 cup sugar, evaporated milk and three egg yolks to a saucepan.
  15. Stir the combo on low heat until it thickens.
  16. Heating at high temperature could result in the mixture sticking at the bottom of the saucepan.
  17. When it is thick enough, remove it from heat and add coconut and vanilla to it.
  18. Finally, pour the filling to the top of the cake and enjoy!
