How to Repair a Car Window Scratch

Car window scratch is something that happens us once in a while. The fact is that when it happens it ruins the appearance and beauty of your car. It is not safe to drive when you have scratches on your window as it diminishes your ability to see. Moreover, a simple scratch can cause to shatter your window at any time. The good news is that you can do a lot of things that can solve your problem. You can take the following seven steps to repair your window and get clear vision on your car window.

    Get a cloth and clean the scratch

    Get a glass cleaner and apply it onto the window. Rub a soft and clean cloth on the window and do it gently. Make sure that you don’t leave any dirt on your window.

    Get toothpaste and Baking Soda

    The first thing you need to do is to squeeze out a quarter of toothpaste into a clean bowl. After that mix it with a teaspoon of baking soda. After mixing the ingredients thoroughly apply some of the mixture onto the scratch gently. The mixture usually takes around five minutes to work on the scratch.

    Buff the scratch

    What you need to do right now is to buff the whole area with a clean cloth until the scratch disappears. If nothing happens then apply more mixture and wait for at least 10 to 15 minutes.

    Clean the Area

    Now spray a class cleaner on the affected area and make sure that you clean it with clean and soft cloth. If you see no satisfactory result after doing this, then proceed with the following alternative option.

    Make Jeweller’s Rouge Treatment

    Mix a tablespoon of water, glycerine and jeweller’s rouge. Increase the quantity of the mixture if the scratched area is larger. Keep mixing until you see the mixture is uniform.

    Apply the mixture on the Scratch

    Apply the treatment onto the entire scratch with your finger. Make sure that you rub gently in circular motion otherwise the window might shatter. Give it five minutes for the treatment to take effect.

    Clean the Window with a Spray Cleaner

    Spray glass cleaner on the scratch and clean it with soft cloth. Now if you don’t see major improvement on your window then you need to repeat the same process until the scratch disappears.
