How to Remove Carpet Glue from Concrete

Removing carpet from concrete is easy but the glue which joins those remains. It is very difficult to get rid of the remaining glue even with most scrapping tools but there is one way which is not only easy but costs less as well. The following method is also eco-friendly and there are not much things you need in order to carry out this procedure.
Leaving the glue un-tackled may result in dust sticking on them, making it more difficult to remove or maintain. There are several chemicals which help remove the glue from concrete. However, the chemicals may damage your health and environment. So, the best way to remove the carpet glue is by using hot water.
Things Required:
– Scraper (spackling tool, garden hoe or heavy-duty blade scraper)
– Push broom
– Pot (for boiling water)
– Water
– Pot holder
– Garden or rain boots
– Safety eye goggles
– Vacuum

Scrape off the carpet remnants
First of all you need to get rid of all carpet remnants left on your concrete floor.

Use the push broom
After scraping off carpet remnants, use the push broom to sweep away them.

Boil Water
Next you need to boil water in a pot.
Remember to use a deep, wide pot so you can easily remove as much carpet glue as you like. Use a pot which can store up to five gallons of water.

Pour hot water on glue
After boiling water, pour it on the carpet glue. You need to be very careful in handling the hot water. Use safety eye goggles to protect your eyes in case water splashes on to them. In order to protect your legs, wear rain or garden boots.

Leave the boiling water on glue
After pouring the boiling water on glue, leave it for almost 10 minutes. In this way, the glue will become pliable.

Scrape off the carpet glue
Next you need to scrape off the carpet adhesive with spackling tool or heavy-duty blade scraper. You can also use a garden hoe to scrape if you have back problems.

Dry the floor
Get rid of excess water and then dry your concrete floor. After that, sweep floor in order to remove chunks of glue which is removed.
