How to Shower a Newborn

Having a newborn is itself a blessing. The birth of a baby gives room to many questions in the mind of an individual. Nevertheless, the concerns overpowering mind of people are how to be as gentle as possible and take maximum care of their newborn. For this, they often try to handle them with care but the biggest obstacle they face is while giving them a bath.

Giving a bath to your infant not only increases your emotional value to your child but it also strengthens the bond between the two of you. To overcome hindrances, one should purchase all the necessary stuff in advance to make sure that everything is available at the hour of need. The items necessary to give a shower to your newborn includes baby shampoo, soap, sponge and a towel.

Before giving a shower to their newborn, one should keep in mind that they are very sensitive to immediate change in temperature, therefore one need to be very careful and cover them in blanket instantaneously after the shower. For the newborns three to four times shower a week is sufficient.

    Do not make your baby lay on a hard surface. Place your towel on a soft and comfy surface.

    And lay your baby on it. You should wrap the baby very carefully, making sure that no part of the body is exposed. Now you should uncover each part of the body and wash it one by one. You should have a basin filled with warm water and keep two towels, baby soap and shampoo within your reach.

    Dip a cloth in the warm water and then clean the face of your baby from it very gently. Do not forget to wipe his ears, forehead and the area around his eyes.

    Dispense some of the baby soap on the dipped cloth and apply that to your baby’s body carefully. Now after applying the soap, dip the other cloth into the water and wash your baby the same way you applied soap. Do not forget to clean the whole body. Keep applying the cloth until you make sure that all of the soap is gone from his/her skin.

    Cover your baby warmly and now lean his/her head with the baby shampoo. Make sure that shampoo does not reach the eyes of the baby and clean his head.

    After the shower is complete, enfold your newborn into a baby towel with hood.
