How to Clean Ice Cream Stains

Ice cream can be a great complement to summer, until it pours down your clothes. However don’t freeze up when the spills happen, as you can easily remove the harmless looking, yet challenging ice cream stains from any surface or material, without damaging the material, by using some helpful tips.

Nonetheless, it is pertinent to mention here that the ice cream stain will become hard to remove if you do not take proper precautions to treat it immediately. Washable and non-washable clothes need different treatments to remove the ice cream stain and avoid it from setting in permanently.

All that you would need to remove these stains are common household ingredients, like lemon juice, baking soda, liquid detergent, strain removing spray. For chocolate ice cream stains, you may need to resort to peroxide and ammonia. The whole process should take around one hour including soaking time.

Things Required:

– Lemon juice.
– Liquid detergent.
– Stain remover spray or gel.
– Cold water.
– Dull knife or spoon.

    Treat the ice cream stains immediately to get the best results and avoid it from setting in permanently. If it is a washable cloth, put it into cold water for 5-10 minutes. If the stain is dried, then let is remain soaked in the cold water for 15 to 20 minutes. Avoid hot water, as it will cause the protein stain set in.

    If the stain still remains, sprinkle lemon juice on it. Make sure that you do it while the fabric remains wet. Lemon juice should be enough to cover the stain. Hang the cloth in the open air to allow the sun to dry it.

    If you can still see any remains of the stain, use an enzyme detergent. Take 1 table spoon of the enzyme detergent in a bowl and add two cups of water to it. Mix until the detergent is diluted. Using this mixture, blot the stain with a washcloth. Do not rub the strain as it can cause the stain to set in.
