How to Backup Windows Registry
Window’s registry holds all the configuration settings related to installed applications, users and even the kernel. Deletion or corruption of a single registry entry can cause fatal errors and it can make your Windows unstable and very slow. Most of the time when you install or uninstall any software, it edits your registry settings. Any spam can easily get in to your computer to harm your registry items. One thing that majority of Window’s users don’t know is that they can make a backup of their registry settings from time to time, so that if at any time their registry settings are compromised, they can reconfigure them using this particular backup. The following step by step guide will show you the procedure to back up your registry settings.

Make sure that your computer or laptop is on and that Windows has completely loaded. Click on “Start Menu”, and then click on “Run” option. There are different ways of doing this step but if you are even a basic user you should not have any problems doing this.

You will see a small box having a text field. Type “Regedit” and hit enter. This will take you to the registry.

Now you will be able to see a window containing your registry settings.
Click on “File” tab present on the top left corner of registry settings window. -

From drop down list, click on “Export entry”, then you will be presented with a window asking you to save the file.
Save that file to secure place and hit enter.
You are all done, now whenever you will get registry errors, you will be able to import the file containing your registry settings. -

To restore the registry from backup created, revise step 1-3 and then from drop down menu select ”Import entry”, and present the path of your backup.
