Pina Colada Juice Recipe

The official drink of Puerto Rico since 1978, piña colada is a sweet beverage known for its creamy and tropical flavour combination of coconut and pineapple. This drink is a perfect treat on a hot summer evening, and the best part is that it is unbelievably easy to make, and does not require any particularly elaborate ingredients. There are several alcoholic variants of this recipe, which traditionally use rum; however, the most popular version of the drink is the non-alcoholic one, which can be enjoyed by the whole family. It takes 10 minutes or less to make, and can easily be made in the morning, and chilled until you are ready to serve on hot summer afternoons and evenings.

Preparation Time: 8-10 minutes
Serving Size: Serves 2-3 persons
Utensils: Bowl, spoon, blender

Ingredients:

– 2 packs of pineapple jelly
– 1/2 cup of yogurt
– 1 pack of fresh cream
– 3 tablespoons of desiccated coconut
– 2 cups of water
– 1/2 cup of condensed milk
– 1 and a 1/2 teaspoon of coconut essence
– 1 cup of chopped pineapples chunks

Instructions

Firstly, take a bowl and place this on a flat, cleared counter space. Pour the two cups of water into this bowl, and then add in the pineapple jelly mix. Stir this into the water with a spoon, and keep mixing until all the jelly has been completely dissolved. This will lend the pineapple flavour to your drink.

Next, pour the pineapple mixture into your blender along with the yogurt, condensed milk, chopped pineapple chunks, fresh cream, desiccated coconut, and coconut essence. Before you pour all this in, however, make sure your blender is absolutely clean – any residual flavours from your last use, particularly if they are strong or spicy, will taint the flavour of your piña colada and ruin it completely.

Now, simply turn the blender on, and pulse all the ingredients together for approximately one and a half minute. By the end of the blending, all the ingredients should be thoroughly incorporated, and tiny flecks of pineapple should be spread out evenly throughout the entire batch.

Pour the prepared drink into a pitcher, put it in fridge and chill. Before serving, add a dollop of fresh cream on top. You can either serve the entire pitcher and have everyone pour their own drinks, or serve the piña colada in individual serving glasses to begin with – if you opt for the latter, you can garnish each glass with a pineapple chunk, and/or a maraschino cherry.
