How to Be More Likeable At Work

There is nothing more disturbing than being an object of hatred at work. You do not want to be someone who others avoid talking to or look at with loathing. If you unfortunately find yourself being disliked by people at work, start making an effort to become more likeable.

Instructions

  • 1

Wear a smile on your face when you talk to your co-workers. A smiling person is normally considered pleasant and happy, which makes other people feel comfortable around him. A smile is also an effective way of letting other people know that you are in a good mood and open to conversation. Be sure to stop smiling when a serious discussion is going on, or when something bad happens to someone. You do not want others to get annoyed by you for smiling unnecessarily and at the wrong time.

  • 2

Be confident at work. If you respect yourself, others will respect you. Having a low-esteem will make your co-workers either pity you, or find you unlikeable. You do not want either of the two, but instead want them to like you.

  • 3

Keep your mood swings in check. Do not keep people at work guessing if you are in a good or bad mood. Never ever snap at your co-worker even if you are frustrated or irritated over something. Do not be mean or annoying.

  • 4

Do not chatter all day long as your voice might end up becoming noise to them if you talk unnecessarily. People are working because they want to put food on the table for their family and the last thing they want is a salary cut or scolding from the employer for not being able to complete their work on time.

  • 5

Wear good clothes to work. Ask yourself if you want a friend that has a classy dressing sense, or a friend that looks like he came to work in the same clothes that he slept. Stay up-to-date with fashion.

  • 6

Adopt good habits and pay extra attention to hygiene. Be sure to flush the toilet after using it. Wear a cologne/perfume/deodorant to work. Do not forget to take a shower before heading to work.

  • 7

Be humble about your accomplishments. You do not want your co-workers to start envying or hating you by bragging your achievements in front of them. Nobody likes a show-off.

  • 8

Try to lend your co-workers a hand whenever you get a chance. Become a team player instead of a lone soldier.
