How To Change Your Linksys Router’s Name
If you have more than one Linksys routers in your building, then leaving the name of router to “linksys” can lead to some complications. Your network may experience regular issues, which can become extremely frustrating. It is therefore best to change the name of your Linksys router to something unique. The process to change name of a Linksys router is a pretty simple one and can be completed in a matter of minutes.

The first thing that you need to do is to access the web-based configuration of your Linksys router. In order to do that, open the web browser that you have installed in your computer and type “192.168.1.1” in the address bar before pressing the “Enter” key on your keyboard. This is the default address for Linksys routers. If your router was set up by someone else, contact them if the aforementioned address does not take you to the web-based configuration.

Once you reach the configuration page, you will be prompted to enter your username and password. The username to access Linksys router is a blank field by default, whereas the password is “admin.” However, if someone else has set up your router, they may have changed your username and password. Contact them to know what the correct password is.

After you successfully log into the web-based configuration of your router, you will be presented with the settings page. Locate and click the “Wireless” tab to display the wireless settings on the screen.

Locate the “SSID” field on the screen. It will most likely have “linksys” written in it unless someone has changed the name to something else. Remove whatever is written in the field and type the new name of your router there. You can use both letters and numbers without any character or space in the name of the router.

After you have set the new name, locate and click the “Save Settings” button to save and apply the changes that you have made.
