How To Make a Blintz

Blintz is one of the most renowned Jewish pastries, which is mostly prepared during Shavu’ot (the Festival of Weeks). It is almost similar to crepe and can be cooked with many tasty fillings.

Preparation Time: 25-30 minutes
Serving Size: 03 persons
Utensils: Bowl, Spoons, Beater, Pan, Cups
Ingredients:

– 3 whole eggs
– 1 1/4 cup (10oz.) of whole milk
– 3 tbs. (45ml) of melted, unsalted butter or 1 tbs. (15ml) of vegetable oil
– 1/2 tsp. (2.5ml) of vanilla extract (optional)
– 1 cup (128g) of flour
– 1/2 tsp. (2.5ml) salt
– 1 to 2 tbs. of sugar (it is optional and depends on your own preference)

Instructions

  • 1

First of all, take a large bowl and place 3 whole eggs into it and fluff them with the help of a fork.

  • 2

Then, add 1 ¼ cup of milk and ½ teaspoon vanilla in the bowl and fluff all the ingredients well until they blend. You can also use 1 ½ cup of fat free milk, if you intend to make low fat Blintz.

  • 3

Now, take another bowl in which you have to mix 1 cup of flour, ½ teaspoon salt and 1-2 tablespoon sugar.

  • 4

Add the egg and milk mixture to the dry ingredients in the second bowl with the help of a beater.

  • 5

You have to add 3 tablespoon melted butter or 1 tablespoon oil in the bowl and then mix all the ingredients well.

  • 6

Put the mixture in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

  • 7

Now, you have to heat a non-stick (8-inch skillet) after greasing it with cooking spray or oil.

  • 8

Then, pour around ¼ cup of the batter into the skillet. Tilt the pan around so that the whole bottom of the heated skillet is uniformly covered.

  • 9

Cook it until you see no liquid on the top.

  • 10

You have to cook one at a time, right until your batter has been completely used.

  • 11

Now, fill your pancake with 2 to 3 tablespoon of your desired fillings.

  • 12

After filling your pancakes, place them in the refrigerator for a few hours.

  • 13

Spray your skillet with the oil and heat around 2 to 3 blintzes until they get brown.

  • 14

Then, turn them over and let them brown from the other side too.

  • 15

You have to repeat the procedure until all your blintzes get brown.

  • 16

You can use berries, whipped cream or any other thing for the topping.

  • 17

Serve your blintz warm and enjoy the feast.
