Make the most of the loneliness by resuming hobbies that you may have had to let go during your relationship. If you loved hiking, painting, fishing or playing cricket, but were forced to cut back on these activities by your significant other, you will now have an opportunity to revisit them. This will also help you to get over depression, if any, that may have been caused due to the breakup.

Spend more time with your family and friends. Breakups can be quite nasty and leave you emotionally scarred. Your family and friends can prove to be a source of comfort and help you step out of the depression. Also, if you have been spending most of your time with your ex over the last few months or years, it will be an excellent opportunity for you to reconnect with your family and friends. Talk to them, share your feelings and take interest in their lives.

Enjoy being alone. You will no longer have someone changing the channels while watching TV, making you miss your favourite show or sporting event. Get yourself a fast internet connection and start downloading movies and shows. Use IMDB or YouTube to help you select films and shows to download. You can also start listening to your favourite music instead of having to listen to songs that your ex liked.
