How To Make Yorkshire Pudding

This is a classic British recipe/ dish that have earned admiration all over the world. It is served as a starter followed by the main course. It is famous for its aroma and taste.

A perfectly made Yorkshire pudding, also known as Batter pudding, is the best thing to serve with roasted meat. It is interestingly crunchy from outside and soggy and soft from the inside. It is light and nutritious enough to handle all the acidity that you may feel after having a spicy meal.

Utensils: Measuring cups/jugs, spoon, electric whisker/stirrer, bowl, pudding tin, microwave oven, serving platter.

Ingredients:
Fresh eggs, measured in a jug: 4 large,
Equal quantity of milk to eggs
Equal quantity of all purpose/plain flour to eggs
Pinch of salt
Lard, beef dripping or vegetable oil: 2 tbsp
Cold water: 2 tbsp

Instructions

    Turn on the microwave oven and set on high temperature. However, it should not be more than 230 C/450 F as it can burn the fat.

    Take a large mixing bowl and pour the eggs and milk in it. Mix them properly until you see a smooth mixture.

    Now add as much salt as you want and set aside for ten minutes after whisking it hard.

    Add the same quantity of flour into this mixture and keep whisking until it comes into shape of thick cream. If you still can see chunks of flour then pass it through a fine sieve. Leave this batter for at least 30 minutes.

    Take your pudding tin and drip vegetable oil before heating it in the oven.

    When your tin is smoking hot, add two table spoons of cold water in your batter and whisk it for the last time.

    Fill your pudding tin and leave it in the oven for 20 minutes or until it changes colour to golden brown.

    Place Yorkshire pudding in the platter and serve alongside meat and vegetables.
