How to Clean LCD Screen Without Leaving Streaks
Unlike the older CRT monitors and television screens, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screens are not made of plain glass. The technique behind manufacturing a LCD is putting a thin layer of plastic that stretches over the liquid crystals and this generates the image on the screen.
The advanced LCDs are very sensitive, and even a slight mistake could damage the whole screen. As a result of any accident, the new LCDs pick up dark patches, and sometimes thin streaks. Even if someone avoids an accident, he might damage the screen while cleaning.
One needs to be extra careful when it comes to cleaning. It is not a good idea to use ammonia-based glass cleaners, because they cause streaks on LCD. The best stuff to clean the LCDs is commercial screen cleaners, but they are very expensive these days.
The commercial cleaners are not something special. They mostly contain ingredients that you probably have at your home. So, make your own screen cleaner and save plenty of money. The homemade cleaners protect your LCD from dust as well as streaks.
Things Required:
– Isopropyl alcohol
– Spray bottle
– Microfiber cloths
Instructions
-
1
Take a spray bottle and mix 1 part isopropyl alcohol with 1 part water. The sprays bottles are easily available at home, but if you don’t have any, buy a new one from the local store. It will not be expensive. Isopropyl alcohol is also known as rubbing alcohol, which is easily available in the market.

Now take microfiber cloth and spray some quantity of the liquid on it. The cloth should only be dampened. Don’t ever spray the isopropyl alcohol and water mixture directly on the screen, because this might make things problematic.
-
3
Wipe the damp cloth from one side to another on the screen. It should be done smoothly, putting no pressure on the screen. In the meantime, make sure you don’t wipe in a circular motion, because the dust can scratch the screen this way.

After wiping the entire screen with the damp cloth, quickly use dry microfiber cloth. It should also be done very smoothly from one side to another. Your screen is clean now.
If you feel that there is still some dust left on the screen, repeat the procedure. Use cotton buds to scratch out the dust in the corners, but very gently.
