How to Optimize your Mac’s Performance
Optimising the performance of your Mac can really make a huge difference in the way your machine functions. Your Mac will not heat up and it will not slow down if you have optimised its performance. A general misconception is that optimising a Mac can end up in several complications such as loss of data and other similar things. Nothing as such happens. By just following a few simple steps, anyone can optimise the performance of his or her Mac. You get a better and faster running OS with no loss of data whatsoever.

1
Start with deleting the login items. Remember login items can really make your Mac go slow. The ones you do not use should be deleted. You can go to login items through ‘Accounts’ in ‘System Preferences’ and see what you have as your login name. By deleting this, you can actually speed up your computer, even though it does not sound so.

2
When in System Preferences, check the ‘Other’ section. Disable the prefpanes if you are not using them. You can even delete them, which would be even better. Make sure ‘Universal Access’ is disabled too through the same technique. Internet Sharing, Bluetooth and Speech Recognition are some other utilities that you can disable when you are not using them.

3
Make sure your system is rid of all the ‘Languages’ it comes with. In order to accommodate the needs of developers, Macs come with numerous languages. You can save a lot of hard drive space by deleting these language if you do not use them. Try Monolingual for deleting these languages.

4
Declutter your system. Much like any other system on the planet, your Mac needs to be decluttered too if you see its performance is going down. You can save a lot of hard drive space by deleting items that you do not really use.

Make sure to run maintenance check on the Mac every now and then. Remember, with time, your Mac will start fading off. After all, all machines are meant to do so. Make sure you are running a maintenance check application every week at least to keep its performance up to date. MainMenu is one good utility for this purpose.
