In order to be a bookkeeper, you need to have deep understanding of basic accounting principles. Maintaining ledgers, passing entries, correcting entries, adjusting ledgers and other similar tasks are duties of bookkeepers.

Get a graduate degree in account or business. Mainly, you will need to have a degree in bookkeeping or accounting to march towards the career. If you can, go for a certification course in your country. Students of the USA can go for a certification course by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. This certification can increase your chances of scoring a decent job by far and wide.
