How to Clean a Silver Tiffany Necklace
Jewellery items made up of silver look elegant and beautiful, but only as long as they are shiny and sparkling. However, exposure of everyday silver jewellery to common chemicals like hand lotions, hairsprays, grime and inevitable perspiration, takes the shine away, leaving them dull and lacklustre. But you can avoid this tarnishing by cleaning and polishing your silver jewellery regularly. Is your silver tiffany necklace also looking a bit grimy? Don’t worry, you can get that fresh-from-the-jeweller shine back and that too using just a few household items.
Things Required:
– Tiffany Necklace
– White toothpaste
– Baking Soda
– Soft cloth
– Silver polishing cloth

Using white toothpaste
Apply a small amount of white toothpaste on a soft cloth and rub it gently over the necklace. Do not use a toothbrush, not even one with soft bristles, to apply toothpaste on the necklace, because the bristles sometimes scratch the soft metal surface. Buff clean the necklace with a wet soft cloth. -

Using baking soda
Place your tiffany necklace on an aluminium dish and sprinkle excess of baking soda on it. Pour a little boiling water over the necklace coated with baking powder. Let the baking soda paste stay for less than a minute (30 seconds will be enough if the grime and residue is mild). Rinse the necklace thoroughly with tap water and dry with a soft cloth. If you still feel some dullness, follow up the baking soda treatment by gently rubbing the necklace for few minutes with a silver polishing cloth. -

Using specially formulated jewellery cleaner
If you are still not satisfied with the shine and sparkle of your tiffany necklace, try a cleanser specially formulated for silver jewellery. These products come in the form of silver polishing pastes as well as dips. You can easily find these cleansing products at the nearest jeweller shop. When using silver dip, just dip your jewellery in and out quickly, buffing the necklace with a soft cloth every time you take it out of the dip. When using the paste, rub it onto the necklace, let it stay for a few minutes before buffing clean with a soft cloth.
