How to Feel Calm in the Bath

After a long and tiring day, there is nothing like a nice shower to refresh yourself and gain the energy to enjoy your evening. The challenges of the modern corporate world are such that we have to work extremely hard throughout the week, and are not left with any time to spend with our family and friends. In such scenarios, you can use your bathroom as a nice, quiet getaway. Take a long bath and spend some time alone with yourself. If you take little things into account and make your bath a little special, you can surely rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit; apart from being physically refreshing, a bath can be mentally relaxing as well, but only if you take measures that allow you to take a deep breath, calm down, and enjoy the silence.

    A nice and clean bathroom

    In order to feel calm in the bath, it is imperative that you make sure the bathroom is clean and the lighting is mellow and appropriate. Some people think it is not very important, but the lighting in the bathroom does have a huge role to play when it comes to helping you feel calm.

    Before you jump into the bathtub, organise yourself by hanging the towels in the bathroom and having your clothes ready and at hand. This will save you from any hassle later on, which is likely to spoil the calm state of mind you are looking to develop.

    Get in the tub

    Having whipped up a pleasant mixture of cold and hot water in the bathtub, undress yourself and get into it. Once your whole body is in water, up to your neck, close your eyes for about five minutes and take deep breaths. Count your breaths from one to ten, and restart the counting from zero before every breath. This procedure will help you release stress. At the same time, you need to empty your mind of all the thoughts and worries that have been occupying you.

    Slowly lift both your hands to the water level and stop them there - leave them suspended and floating. After having done this for about a couple of minutes, do exactly the same with your feet.

    Before going into the bathroom, arrange a nice refreshing drink for yourself, and place it next to the bathtub. Take slow, small sips while you are in the tub. There is nothing like a fresh orange or pineapple smoothie to relax you during a bath.
