How to Make a Lightbulb Vase

There is an emerging trend of recycling things and so is the dire need of the day. We live in a world with quickly depleting resources and many of us are realizing the need to conserve them. This has led to an increase in recycling ideas. This project is one of them. It combines your conscious and creativity. It also adds a convenience factor because you do not have to think out a safe place to discard your light bulbs. This project is a fun and rewarding one because at the end of this interesting activity, you get multiple vases for your flowers at literally no cost. How cool is that?

Things Required:

– Light bulbs  (according to desired quantity of vases)
– Screwdriver/pliers
– Protection gloves for hands
– Tweezers
– Flowers (both fresh and artificial will do)

Put on your protection gloves. Ideally the bulbs should remain intact in your hands if you are enough but to be on the safe side, it is always best to wear gloves before starting. Use the tweezers to remove the upper cap on the black part of the light bulb. When the cap is pulled off, it will leave behind a hole in the black part. Twist and pry your screwdriver into this hole to snap the black glass. Once done clear the debris. You now will have a glass bulb with a clear narrow opening.

Inside the glass bulb, there will be a system of thin wires and glass tubes. Once again use your tweezers to take them off so that you are left with an empty glass bulb which can serve as your vase. However, do all this really carefully because a hit from the tools can easily break the bulb into pieces and your project will be destroyed. The job requires patience and precision. It is better to do it over a cloth or plastic underneath so that you can easily throw off the materials you clear from inside the bulb.

Now that the bulb is cleared, rinse it with water lightly to clear off the debris entirely. Your vase is ready. You can keep both artificial and natural flowers in it. The natural flowers will of course need water. You can hang it by wrapping a twine around its mouth. You can also place it on a standing position somewhere like on a desk by placing it on a flat lid of an empty container. All up to the power of your imagination.
