How to Hang A Theatre Light

If you are planning for a function or a show, you may consider adding a theatre light for illuminating the stage properly. You can add more than one theatre lights if extra illumination is required or if the stage is very big.

Things Required:

– Theatre light(s)
– Ladder
– Wrench
– Gaft tape

    Choose the spot where you want to hang the theatre light. Theatre lights tend to works best if they are hung in around the boundary of the stage but that is not a rule and you can hang a theatre light where ever you want.

    Place a ladder on the ground and make sure it is not directly under the spot you chose for hanging the theatre light. Place it approximately one and a half feet away from the chosen spot. Before climbing the ladder to hang the light, ensure that it is properly working and has a safety wired attached to it.

    Holding the light in one hand, carefully climb the ladder and position yourself in a comfortable working position at the top of the ladder. Most theatre lights are hung using C-clamps that come along with the light. Attach the C-clamp holding the light at the desired spot and tighten the bolt using a wrench until the C-clamp has made a proper grip on the bar. Make sure that the theatre light becomes stable before moving on to the next step.

    Unlock the grid and attach the safety wire. Lock the grid back into place after properly fitting the safety wire around the grid. You are done with the hanging part.

    Now, an electrical connections needs to be made between a power source and the theatre light you just hung. Make a connection between the theatre light power cable and one of the lighting plot cables. Properly tape the connection using Gaft tape.

    Repeat the same process if you want to hang more than one theatre lights. When you are done hanging and focusing all the lights, only the light boards need to be programmed.
