There is a difference between becoming a worker for an organisation whose primary concern is to earn profit and a non-profit organisation. To most people, it does not matter whether you are working in a for-profit organisation or non-profit organisation, because you are earning your salary either way. However, some are very definite in drawing a line between these two types of organisations and appreciate the efforts done by an employee in a non-profit organisation.
If your want to become a business executive for a non-profit organisation, you will be required to have a certain set of skills. First, you should make sure that you are really interested in serving a non-profit firm. Note that, you should have the required skills for the job, some of which you may have learnt during your studies while there are some that you learn through practical experience.
It is often observed that business executives join the non-profit organisations as a partner in a specific mission, donors or by becoming a board member. In addition, some business executives are the board of members of more than one business.

Make sure that you do internship in your relevant field otherwise it would be a waste of your time and resources. Read the newspapers, magazines or check the internet for jobs and start applying to them.
