How to Make Handprint Valentine Art with Children

Valentine’s Day is a special occasion and children love to present their elders with different gifts. They can always sit together and make a colourful card or a piece of art for their parents or for grandparents. With a minimum things required, you can help the young ones to make a stylish and colourful piece of art so that they present it to their elders on the Valentine’s Day. Two construction papers, Drawing pencils, scissors and Glue Stick are the things you may require to complete the task.

Things Required:

– Pink and Red Construction paper
– Drawing pencil
– Scissors
– Glue Stick

Instructions

  • 1

    Draw the handprint

Place one construction paper on a level surface and cover all corners with a small object to make sure it does not roll over when you are working on it. Ask the children to firmly place their hand in the centre and draw the handprint with the help of a pencil. Repeat the action with all the young ones. Make sure the drawings do not overlap as that would not give you the desired result.

  • 2

    Cut out the drawings

Carefully cut down the handprints on the construction paper and set them aside. Make sure you cleanly cut them out as that would give the art a great and neat look.

  • 3

Use the red paper to cut out a heart shape

Draw a heart shape with a pencil on the red construction paper and cut it out.

  • 4

Paste the handprints on the heart

Now place the heart shape on a level surface and paste the handprints on it one by one. You can either paste them together in a same line or use them on the edges. Make sure you use reasonable glue for this as using excess glue may result in damaging the paper.

    Decorate the art

Finally, decorate the art as you desire. The best thing would be to write the names of the children on the handprints. Another good idea would be to write a decent Valentine message on the remaining empty areas of the construction paper.
