How to Get on a Bus with Crutches

Crutches are used by a person when an injury or disability does not allow one of your legs or feet to move freely. You need to learn a proper way to move with crutches in order to avoid pain under your arms. Crutches are used to protect your injured foot or leg from getting further damaged. It also helps in healing it. It will lead to a strange feeling while walking initially. However, with the passage of time, you will get used to it and move more freely.

Crutches convert an easy task in hand to a big hassle. It can even make it difficult to get on a bus. Getting on a bus may seem a difficult task at first but after getting on for few times, it will become a piece of cake.

    Lift and place your good leg on the first step

    First of all you need to stand in front of the open door of the bus. The crutches should be placed on both sides of you and should be in contact against your rib cage. You need to do is to place the good leg on the first step of the bus you are getting in.

    Pull up the rest of your body

    After lifting your good leg onto the first step you need to pull up the rest of your body. You need to bring up your injured leg and remaining part of your body by utilizing the muscles in your good leg. Remember to use the top portion of the good leg muscles and push off gradually on the crutches.

    Repeat the steps

    Next you need to repeat this procedure until your reach in the bus. After you reach in the top of the bus, seek for an empty seat and then take rest. Remember that most buses have a separate portion for disabled people. However, if there is no portion for the disabled people or the whole bus is fully occupied then you can politely ask anyone especially youngsters to give you the place.
