How to Make Coconut Hair Conditioner

Coconut is renowned for its nourishing and moisturising properties, and its oil serves as the base for countless hair conditioners. Ideal for hydrating, repairing and protecting damaged hair, and for keeping normal hair shiny and healthy, a coconut hair conditioner is a must-have if you want lustrous locks. If you are unwilling to pay for a bottle, try whipping up a batch at home – the method is simple, and you will need just three ingredients.

Things Required:

– Coconut oil
– Sweet almond oil
– Rose concrete
– Plastic mixing bowl
– Spatula
– Electric mixer

Instructions

  • 1

Take two tablespoons of coconut oil, and put these into your mixing bowl. Despite the fact that it is referred to as “oil”, coconut oil is a solid white substance, so you will need to use your spatula to knead and cream the oil, until it softens and becomes thick and smooth. This way, it will be easier to work with.

Now proceed to add a teaspoon of sweet almond oil into the softened coconut oil. Stir it in until both oils blend together and become completely amalgamated. If you do not wish to use sweet almond oil, you can substitute it with jojoba oil or olive oil.

Next, it is time to add in the rose concrete. This is an ingredient used in beauty products for the purpose of lending a smooth, spreadable texture and pleasant hue to a mixture. However, do not be heavy-handed with this – simply add a pea-sized amount to your oil mixture, and use the back of the spoon to break it up and mix it into the oils.

Once you have added in all the ingredients, and stirred them together by hand, it is time to use an electric mixer to blend it all together vigorously. Put the electric mixer on low speed, and gently beat the mixture. Continue to do this for around 5 to 7 minutes, and by the time you are done, the mixture should be light, creamy, frothy, and paste-like in consistency.

The coconut hair conditioner is now ready for use. After you’ve shampooed and rinsed, gently squeeze excess water out of your hair, and spread in the coconut conditioner from root to tip. Keep it on for around 10 to 15 minutes, and allow it to work its magic on your locks, then rinse it off thoroughly, and gently towel your hair dry.
