Instructions

  • 1

    Be a good listener

The best way to stop talking is lending an ear to others. You should always be ready to accept different ideas presented by people and be patient when others are speaking. If you give respect to people when they speak, they will respect you in turn.

  • 2

    Think before you speak

You must develop a habit of thinking before you let words escape your mouth. Once you start doing that, you are likely to avoid talking too much. Whenever you go to bed, you should analyse your whole day and reflect if you had crossed limits while talking to your friends, colleagues or family members. If you think that you did majority of the talking during conversations, try to make amends the next day.

  • 3

    Avoid being emotional

Emotional people are always very energetic but they have the tendency of talking too much in a conversation because they are not able to accept difference of opinion. Never try to impose your opinion on others. Some people present their opinion as facts, which leads to heated conversations. Always respect what another person has to say about a topic.

  • 4

Develop a habit of reading books

Instead of watching television whenever you have free time, you should look to read books. The habit will enhance your overall personality and you would be able to resist crossing limits in a conversation.

  • 5

    Avoid argumentative and rude people

We often come across argumentative and rude people. Once you indulge in an argument with someone, you are likely to waste a lot of your time and energy. People, who do not have solid basis to defend their opinions are extremely hard to convince, so you should steer clear of such arguments and discussions.
