How to Tighten a Loose Toilet Seat

Although, you don’t spend too much time on the seat, it must be completely comfortable. Imagine out of you had a guest coming over, it would be an embarrassing situation for you.
A loose toilet seat could prove dangerous for the kids. In order to avoid embarrassment as well as a mishap, fix your toilet seat immediately. It is a tough procedure by no means.
Usually, a couple of plastic bolts located on the rear hold the seat. With time, these nuts lose their grip. In order to fix the toilet seat, you just need to screw the nuts.

– Small screw driver
– Small pair of pliers

Enter the toilet with complete equipment. Make sure no one has used the toilet lately. It is always better to turn on the exhaust fan an hour before you start the procedure.
The floor must be completely dry, because you cannot afford to slip during the procedure. There is no need to involve the kids, because this is not an entertaining activity. -

After taking cautionary measures, use a small screwdriver to remove the bolt covers. There is no need to use extra force here, because this could damage the covers. You will find these covers at the back, where the seat is actually connected to the toilet. Place the covers at a safe place after removing them.

Once the covers are gently removed, take a large screw driver, and insert it into the screw head. To tighten the screw, turn it clockwise.
Since, the nut is attached to the toilet seat, turning it will eventually fix the problem. Keep turning until it is tightened. After finishing with the first one, tighten the second screw. -

You need to place the small pair of pliers underneath, if you find the bolt keep turning without tightening up. Don’t over-tighten, because this will make things very tricky for you.
If the nuts are not tightened even after placing the pliers, there is a serious issue underneath. To fix it, you need to replace the screws. You may find the plastic bolts at the local hardware store. -

Once the nuts are accurately tightened, put the plastic covers back. Make sure the covers are fully fixed.
