How to Restore Your IPod to Factory Settings
Apple is one of the most popular music playing device at the moment, allowing music lovers to enjoy high-quality music anytime and anywhere.
However, at some point you may feel like wiping your iPod clean and restoring it to factory setting. Apple has kept the procedure to do this very simple. Before you start off with the restoration of your Apple device to factory settings, it is important to understand this is will completely erase all songs and files from your iPod. It is therefore strongly advised to backup all your data beforehand.

The first thing you need to do is to ensure that your computer has an active Internet connection. This is a requirement because you may need to download and install the latest version of iTunes and iPod software.

If you have not updated your iTunes software for quite some time, download and install the latest version of it from the Internet.

After you have installed the latest version of iTunes on your computer, launch it.

Connect your iPod to the computer using the USB data cable that came with it. Plug one end of the cable into your Apple device and the other one into a USB slot on your computer.

Wait for a few seconds as iTunes detects your iPod. Once detected, it will be displayed in the “Source” panel in iTunes.

Now select your iPod from the “Source” panel. Selecting your iPod will display a description of the product in the “Summary” tab.

Locate and click the “Restore” button. If you are using a Mac instead of Windows, you will be required to confirm your administrative authority by providing your username and password to initiate the restoration process.

The restoration of iPod to factory settings will initiate. A progress bar on the computer screen will keep you informed about the stage and progress of restore process. After the first stage is completed, iTunes will display either of the two messages with instructions that are specific to the iPod model you are restoring to factory settings.
- Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter
- Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore -

The progress bar and an Apple logo at the bottom of the iPod screen will indicate that stage two of the restore process has begun. Make sure that the iPod remains connected to the power adapter or computer as was instructed in the previous step.

Once stage two of the restore process is complete, an “iTunes Setup Assistant” window will appear, asking you to set a name for your iPod and specify the syncing preference.
