How to Reset an IPod without a Computer

While the Apple products are renowned for their reliability, the user may cause them to act in an unexpected way by downloading or installing an application that lacks stability.

If you own an iPod touch and have been experiencing this problem, tackle the issue by resetting your device. You can either reset your iPod without removing the data on it, or you can reset its settings and complete erase the content on its hard drive. It is strongly recommended to give hard reset a shot before resorting to resetting your iPod’s setting.

    Hard Reset Your iPod

    Press the Menu button and simultaneously press the bezel button at the bottom of the iPod screen. You will find the two buttons on the top and bottom of your iPod respectively. If you have trouble understanding which button to press, consult the manual that came with your Apple device, or simply visit the company’s official website to get a better idea of what you need to press.

    Hold down both the buttons for about 10 seconds until you see the iPod screen go black and an Apple logo come on. If nothing appears on the screen, take your fingers off the two buttons and place them there again.

    Resetting your iPod’s Settings

    Press the Menu button on your iPod to wake it up from sleep and then tap the “Settings” icon.

    Look for the “General” tab in “Settings” and tap it.

    Once you get into the general settings, scroll down to locate the “Reset” tab. Press it.

    Now press the “Reset All Settings” tab. Your device will ask you to confirm if you really want to reset all settings. Confirm your action by tapping “Reset All Settings.” You can also erase all the content from your iPod as well by tapping the “Erase All Content and Settings” tab, which is also located in the “Reset” window. Confirm the action by tapping “Erase iPod.”
