How to Add Songs to an IPod without Syncing
Sometimes you may to connect your iPod to any other computer to charge its battery or for some other reason. If you have kept it on auto-sync option, it will automatically sync all the files of the iTunes library which may cause problem for you as you don’t want to have the data of any other computer. Therefore, you will have to change your settings to manual sync option to avoid automatic synchronisation. Moreover, it will help you in managing your media files in a more customised manner.

First of all, you have to connect your iPod with the PC by the help of USB cable or FireWire. It will automatically open the iTunes on your computer. However, if iTunes window doesn’t appear, you can open it by double-clicking on its icon on the desktop or by selecting it from the list of programmes given in the start menu.

The iTunes will start syncing your data automatically, just cancel it immediately after opening it. You will see your iPod’s name on the left side of the iTunes window, click on it and select ‘Summary’ tab which is given at the top of your screen.

Select the ‘Manually Manage Music and Videos’ option which is given near the bottom of your screen. Then, press ‘OK’ when ‘Disabling Automatic Update’ box appears and press ‘Apply’ in order to apply your desired settings. The ‘Apply’ button is given on the lower right side of the iTunes screen. The settings (from automatic to manual syncing) will take a little time to take effect.

Now, see the ‘Music’ option which is given on the left side of iTunes window, just below the iPod’s icon. You can add any song from the iTunes library to your iPod by dragging the files to ‘Music’ tab under iPod. You can also sync multiple songs to your iPod.
