Windows Yahoo Mail Setup Overview

Usually people with two accounts; one on Yahoo and the other on Windows Mail forget to take a look at the activities happening on both accounts because of a lack of time or because most of their emails are sent on Windows Mail so their attention is diverted to only that account. But there’s a way out! You can download your Yahoo messages on Windows Mail account with the assistance of POP. But you will have to make sure that your Yahoo account has a Yahoo Mail Plus subscription.

Correctly follow the steps mentioned below and you will be able to setup a Yahoo Mail account on Windows Live Mail.

    First you will have to open your Windows Live Mail

    A new page will open up. Drag your cursor on the left side and click "Add email account." A page will load again.

    In the Add email account page, add the information as explained below:

    E-mail address: you will have to type your full Yahoo email address.

    Password: type the password of the account typed above. (Do not worry it is safe to give your password to Windows Live.)

    Remember password (optional): it is up to you whether you wish to check the box or not.

    Display Name: this field will have the name which receivers will see when you send them an email.

    Manually configure server settings for e-mail account: you will have to check this box

    After completing the information given above click ‘Next’

    The next page will ask you to add the incoming server information. Add the details mentioned below:

    My incoming mail server: Select POP3

    Incoming server: In this field you will have to type pop.mail.yahoo.com

    Port: 995

    This server requires a secure connection (SSL): this box has to be checked

    Log on using: Leave the setting to "Clear text authentication."

    Login ID (if different from e-mail address): In this field you will have to type the part which comes before your @yahoo.com. So if your ID is ABC@yahoo.com, you only have to type ABC.

    After this you will have to add the outgoing Server information which is stated as follow:

    Outgoing server: In this field you will have to type smtp.mail.yahoo.com

    Port: 465

    This server requires a secure connection (SSL): this box has to be checked

    My outgoing server requires authentication: the box has to checked

    Then click ‘Next’

    In order to set Yahoo Mail account as your default account, select "Set this account as the default mail account" and then click ‘Finish’.
