How to Wear Makeup at the Beach
A beach is a great place to enjoy and relax, where you can forget about your personal and work related problems and admire nature for a while. However, this does not mean that you can just get out of bed and head off to the beach. If you are a woman, going out without makeup is not an option, and applying your regular makeup is also not a good idea for a day at the beach, as it will never hold against the humidity and the sunlight which you will be up against. In order to maintain a glamorous and smudge-free look at the beach, you need to buy waterproof makeup and follow some basic steps when applying it, so you can walk out onto the beach with full confidence.

Owing to the hot and humid weather that you will face when at the beach, you need makeup that will stay on throughout the day. For this reason, it is essential to invest in basic makeup items that are waterproof and smudge-free.
-
2
The first thing to do is to prime your face with a moisturiser. Squeeze some out onto your fingertips, and apply it all over your face and neck - make sure it is oil free, and absorbs easily into your skin.
-
3
The next step is to build a base that will help your makeup stay, and for that you need to use a face primer, which helps the makeup stay in place. Prime your eyelids with a little bit of the primer as it acts like a magnet for your eye shadow, and then apply it over your cheeks, forehead, and nose too. If you wish, you can also use the primer on your lips.

4
Now, apply your foundation; this has to be a light, silicon based formula which is completely waterproof.
-
5
The next step is to apply all the colours. Again, it is important to use silicon based cosmetics, that are water and smudge proof; everything from the mascara and eyeshadow to the blush and lip colour needs to be of this type.

6
Some ladies just cannot live without their eyeliner pencil, and if you are determined to use one before heading to the beach, ditch the old greasy ones and look for oil free and silicon based eyeliners. Remember, these liners will not rub off within two minutes, which is the case with conventional eyeliners.
-
7
With a very light touch, apply the pencil very close to the lash line, going back and forth, creating a line that runs smoothly from the inner corner to the outer corner of your eye.
-
8
To finish off the eye makeup, apply mascara, followed by a water proof top coat which will increase the longevity of the mascara and make it water proof.
-
9
Now, apply the lipstick. You need this to be waterproof as well, and if you want, you can skip the lipstick entirely and just swipe on a thin shiny coat of clear lip gloss.
-
10
Once you are done, skip on the heavy powders (pressed or loose), and store some blotting papers in your beach bag instead (just in case).

Finally, move on to the hair. This depends entirely upon which sort of hairstyle you want to carry. Ideally, you should opt for a more casual style at the beach - either let it flow free in waves, or pull it up in a loose ponytail or a messy bun.
