Procedure for Applying Thailand Tourist Visit Visa from Ottawa

As Thailand has strong relations with many countries of the world including Canada, it has granted the visa free entry status to the nationals of these countries and they can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days.     Visa Exempted Countries

    If you're the national of or have permanent resident status in any of the following regions, you won't need visa to visit Thailand and you can stay there for up to 30 days:

    European Union, Oceania, East Asia including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, Philippines etc, Middle East including, Kuwait, Monaco, Oman, Qatar & United Arab Emirates, Canada and United States.

    The Nationals of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Korea (ROK) and Peru can stay for 90 days without visa.

    All other nationalities holders require visa.

    Visa at Immigration Check Point


    Nationals of many countries can get tourist visit visa at the immigration checkpoints before entering into Thailand. However, they can make their stay only for 15 days. They need only valid passport to obtain visa. These countries include Bhutan, China, India, Mauritius, Maldives, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary,Kazakhstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan & Ukraine.

    Visa Requirements


    Following Documents are required as prerequisites for visa:


    a)      Valid passport with at least six months to expiry date,
    b)      Visa Fee,
    c)       Bank Statement,
    d)      Two Recent Photographs,
    e)      Completed Application Form duly signed by the applicant,
    f)       Travel Itinerary,
    g)      Hotel Booking,
    h)      Prepaid, Self-Addressed, Stamped return envelope if submitting by post,
    i)        Yellow fever vaccination, if traveling through affected countries.

    Visa Fee

    Visa fee for the tourists depends on the length of visit you intend to have and it can only be paid by Money Order made payable to the name of the “The Royal Thai Embassy in Canada”.


    Residents of the following countries are exempted from visa fee:


    Republic of Korea, Tunisia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.

    Submission of Application

    Application can be submitted in-person or by mail. If you want to submit it in-person, you need to visit the Embassy from 9:30 to 11:30 and then from 1:30pm to 3:00pm from Monday through Friday. If you want to submit through post, you need to submit it by registered mail.

    Processing Time and Collection of Visa

    Application processing time is about five working days. You can collect your visa from the Consulate Section after issuance of visa by embassy. You can also collect your visa at home, if you submit application by post.
