Making Your Own Oatmeal Face Mask at Home

Facial masks are essential for nourishing the skin on your face, and since your face is the most exposed and visible part of your body, it deserves the extra effort.

Fortunately, you don’t necessarily have to visit a salon or a spa for a facial mask or treatment, you can easily create your own facial mask using natural household items, and trust us, it works just as great as commercial products, if not better!

In this guide, we will show you to make an oatmeal mask at home. In order to get started, you will need:

– 1/4 cup Oatmeal
– Blender/grinder
– 1-2 tablespoons Milk
– 1/2-1 tablespoon Honey

Instructions

  • 1

    Crush the Oats

Start with crushing the oats using your blender or grinder. Just make sure you don’t grind it into a powder, and just give it a couple of quick pulses to get a coarse mixture. Oatmeal makes a great base for a facial mask due to its exfoliation qualities, removing the dirt from inside your pores along with any excess oil.

Mix the Ingredients to Make a Paste

Once the oats are crushed, you will need to create a paste to apply on your face. Gather the coarsely crushed oats into a small bowl and top them up with the milk and honey. Now mix them all together using a spoon until you get a paste. You don’t want the paste to be too thick or runny, just enough that it can be spread easily over your face.

Apply the Paste on Your Face

Don’t apply the paste directly after it is prepared. First wash your face with a face wash or a cleanser and then gently pat it dry with a soft towel. Now use a spatula or your fingers to evenly spread the paste over your face, avoiding the eyes.

Once your whole face is covered with the paste, sit back and relax or listen to some music.

Wash It Off After 20 Minutes

The mask needs around 20 minutes to be effective, so wait till then before washing your face. When it’s time, use warm water to softly wash your face and then pat it dry using a soft towel.

Repeat this once a week for a month to see visible changes on your facial skin!

    Useful Tips

-Avoid using soap to wash your face. It dries out your skin and removes the essential oils from it.
-Wash your face three times a day and moisturize it after every wash for soft and supple skin.
-Always use a moisturizer with sun-screen if you intend to go out into the sun.
-Pat your face dry with a soft towel instead of rubbing it on your skin.
