Cleaning Household Tiles and Grout
Some people shudder when thinking about cleaning tiles and grout in their homes. These surfaces, particularly in the bathroom (as you nod) are some of the most stubborn and demanding cleaning jobs in the entire household. Fortunately, an effective and natural cleaning solution is available that can aid you in cleaning tiles and grout. That isn’t even the best part! You can make this solution at home quite easily.
Things Required:
– vinegar
– baking soda
– an old toothbrush
– wet cloth
– spray bottle (optional)

1
Spread the Vinegar
Spread the vinegar evenly on all tiling and grout. The most effective way to do this is with a spray bottle, which can be purchased at your local grocery store or hardware store. Be sure to take your time and try to cover every inch with the spray bottle. It is best to keep the setting of the spray bottle nozzle to fine so that you get a nice even coating of vinegar on the tiles. Remember to work backwards and step back as you start spraying in the corners as this will prevent you from stepping on the vinegar as you move around.
Note: If you have marble tile, DO NOT USE VINEGAR. Vinegar can damage that type of tile, which would be extremely unfortunate. Instead go to your local hardware store and ask for a marble-friendly cleaner. -

Tougher Stains? No Worries!
For areas that are messier than the others, or for a more effective cleaning overall, sprinkle baking soda onto the targeted areas along with the vinegar. The two products will react to remove the stains. Only use the best quality baking soda that you can find at any store. Remember to use a small amount so that the reaction with the vinegar is effective to help remove dirt and grime from the tiles.
Let this solution sit and work its magic for a few minutes before moving onto the following Steps. -
3
Brush
Using an old toothbrush or something similar, brush the grout between the tiles to remove all stains and grime that may currently exist. You might want to put on some knee-pads or put a towel down to rest your knees on while you sit and use the toothbrush to clean. It will take some time cleaning with the toothbrush, but this method is by far the most effective way of getting the grout out from between the tiles. -

Wipe Down and Enjoy
Using a wet cloth or mop, wipe and clean all the tile. If the tiles are on the ground, exercise caution in walking, as the wet surface could be dangerous. Make sure that you take your time as you wipe down the tiles with a mop. Remember you do not want to use too much water as this will not be effective for you.
Congratulations, you now have fantastically clean tiles.
