Stay focused
Don’t lose sight of your goal. If you want to stick with your habit, it is essential that you always have it at the back of your mind. For instance, if you are looking to curb eating junk food, and have started the intake of more healthy food such as fruits, vegetables etc, it is essential that you teach yourself the importance of maintaining it. This can be done by hanging photos of your body image before and after this habit. This can further relate to your exercise routine. For motivation, you can install a poster or two of your favourite sports personality or someone who has motivated you. The purpose of this exercise is to always have something that reminds you of the good in that habit. This way you will always be geared up. -
2
Hold yourself accountable
It is human nature to cheat, but we only cheat ourselves and no one else. It is important to hold yourself accountable and not look for ways out. You are the one benefiting from the habit and you owe it to yourself to stick with it. -
3
Get all the help you can
Sticking with the habit may be difficult if you don’t make it interesting. With that one refers to getting additional help. For instance, most people will workout if they have a gym partner who can be a source of motivation.
Likewise, research, read books, meet people and share ideas, as these can inspire you even more. Moreover, you will find alternate ways to maintain a healthy routine and reap the benefits in a shorter time span. -
4
Learn to forgive yourself
If you have missed a set deadline, don’t curse yourself but learn to forgive and move on. This exercise will prove helpful as you will not feel the need to break a good habit. Acknowledge that it is tough, but don't be too harsh on yourself.
