How to Reduce Gas Caused By Beans

Passing wind in a public place can be extremely embarrassing and is likely to adversely affect your personality. Gas in your stomach can put you in a very awkward and stressful situation. While you cannot publicly relieve yourself, forcibly delaying it is also not advised by doctors.

Beans are very beneficial for your health but no one can deny that they cause gas. However, if you are a little careful and take small things into consideration, you can easily reduce the gas caused by beans.

Instructions

  • 1

Place the beans in water a night before cooking

If you plan to cook beans the next day, it is highly recommended that you place them in a large pot or bowl full of water before sleeping at night. The water should cover the top layer of the beans. This process will allow the beans to soak for a long time. You should add a table spoon of fennel seeds in the pot if possible.

  • 2

    Strain the beans

When you wake up the next morning, strain the beans after they have been soaked overnight. Dispose the water before you start cooking however. Now you can begin cooking the beans over medium heat, starting with a cold pot and fresh water.

  • 3

    Boil the water

Having cooked the beans for approximately 15 minutes, you should now remove the pot from heat or the boiler and strain the beans once again. After disposing off the cooking water, you have to refill the cooking pot with water and put it over high heat, until it is properly boiled.

  • 4

Add the beans in boiling water

Once the water has been boiled, you should now reduce the heat to almost half and add the beans in the pot. You can now finish cooking them as per the instructions of the recipe or in your own style. This process will make the beans easier for the stomach to digest.

    Alternative method

If you forgot to put the beans in a pot full of water the night before or you do not have time because of any reason, you can pour boiling water over the beans instead of letting them soak in cold water. Let them soak for an hour and the beans should be ready to cook.
