How to Store Clementines Fruit

Clementines are mandarin oranges which have a great nutritional value. They become a good snack when ripened and are usually harvested from November to January. Clementines have thin layer and are seedless, making it easier to consume. However, clementines stop ripening after they are harvested. They become rotten and eventually decay when not eaten. You need to store clementines in order to prevent it from decaying. Storing will also increase their life span and you can eat it after few days.

Things Required:

– Fruit bowl
– Plastic sealing bags
– Sugar
– Water
– Saucepan
– Spoon
– Stove
– Refrigerator/Freezer

    Keep under room temperature

    You can keep the clementines in your fruit bowl for almost a week. Remember to keep them under the room temperature.

    Sealed plastic bags

    Use sealed plastic bags for storing clementines. Place clementines in the plastic bag, seal them and then place it into the refrigerator. Remember that you can store the clementines for up to weeks in a refrigerator.

    Store it in a freezer

    You can store clementines in a freezer for almost 10 to 12 months. However, you will require adding some ingredients before storing them.

    Take a box of clementines which are peeled and divided into different sections. Remember to wash them before adding in the box. Next take two cups and fill them with ¾ sugar. Pour the sugar in the saucepan filled with 1 qt. of water. Boil the mixture and remember to stir it thoroughly.

    After boiling, turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool. Next add the peeled Clementine sections into the cool mixture of sugar and water. Dip the clementines completely in the mixture. In the end place the clementines and the syrup in a plastic bag. Remember to vent out all the air in the bag and tightly seal it. You can now place the bag filled with clementines in the freezer.

    Remove rotten area of clementines when storing

    In case the clementines are rotten around the stem then remove that area with the knife. This is to keep other clementines safer from being rotten. If one Clementine is rotten then it will lead assist and increase the speed of the decaying process.
