How to Make Pomegranate Toner

Pomegranate is an extremely tasty fruit, loved by millions of people around the globe. The nutritional value and health benefits of this wonderful fruit are too many to count.

Interestingly, the benefits of pomegranate also lie in its peel, which is normally thrown away after the edible portion is extracted from it. The peel of this wonderful fruit can be used create a daily use toner. This toner can be used with moisturiser to hydrate the skin and make it feel fresh. Alternatively, it can be splashed on the face directly or be included in the home-made face mask and scrubs.

    The first thing that you need to do in order to make pomegranate toner is to peel a few pomegranates. The amount of pomegranate peels you need to use depend on the amount of toner you are looking to make. While making the toner for the first time, it is best to peel three pomegranates. Once you become familiar with the process, you can use more pomegranates the next time you make a pomegranate toner.

    Next, fill a saucepan or skillet with a litre of water and place it on a stove.

    Put the pomegranate peels in the saucepan or skillet that you filled up with water. It does not really matter whether you have dried peels or fresh ones, as both of them would serve the purpose well.

    Once you have put the peels in the skillet or saucepan filled with water, let the water boil. Keep the flame to medium, so that the water does not reaching the boiling point too quickly. You want the pomegranates peels to have the same temperate as that of water. Keeping the flame too low is not advisable either, as you will have to wait much longer for the water to reach its boiling point.

    Once the water starts boiling, turn the flame low and allow it to simmer until only one-fourth of the original quantity of water is left in the saucepan or skillet. This can take a bit of time, so you may want to keep yourself busy. Just do not start something doing that might make you forget about the water and pomegranate peels on the stove.

    Once one-fourth of the original amount of water is left in the saucepan or skillet, you will notice that the liquid has turned dark golden. Turn the stove off and allow the contents of the saucepan or skillet to cool.

    Filter the liquid and store it in a spray bottle. Place the bottle in the refrigerator for a longer shelf-life, while throwing away the peels.
