Sombrero cake is one of the best cake recipes for parties and other family gatherings. It is widely used as a desert, but you can also make it at somebody’s birthday. It is not very difficult to make. All you need is a little time and few ingredients.
Ingredients
  • Chocolate or devil's food cake mix: 4 boxes
  • Recipes of frosting for decorating cake: 2
  • Milk
  • Shortening
  • Eggs
  • Oil
  • Water
  • Vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar
  • Jelly beans
Instructions
  1. First of all, you have to blend together two chocolate boxes in order to make a large cake. Take a bowl and add eggs, water and oil into it. Mix all the three ingredients well.
  2. Then, put the mixture in the cake pan. You have to fill the pan a little bit more than half. Then, place the pan in the oven and bake it for a while. Take it out and see whether it is brown and a little hard or not. You can test it by inserting a toothpick into it. Keep it aside to let it cool down.
  3. After that, you have to bake the top part of the cake. Add eggs, milk, oil and water in a bowl. Beat them well and add them to the other two boxes of chocolate. Now, place the pan in the oven and bake it well.
  4. To prepare the frosting, you will have to add vanilla, sugar and milk in a small bowl. Mix all the ingredients well. Then, add food colour of your choice. Normally, yellow, red, blue, purple, green and pick colours are used.
  5. Now, you have to trim the doll dress cake. It will better for you to trim the round portion of the cake so that it can be placed on the centre. Then, frost both the cakes with the help of your frosting.
  6. You can use many things to decorate your cake. For instance, you can use jelly beans around the outer layer of your cake in order to create a unique tassel look.
