How To Bunny Hop a Mountain Bike

Did you ever want to try a bunny hop on a mountain bike? It is not an easy thing to do and requires a lot of practice. However, once you are able to do it, you try to do it time and time again. Therefore, get a mountain bike and start practicing if you want to become a master of this art.

    Front wheel

    For starters, you should know how exactly you can lift the front wheel of your bicycle. It is not too hard to do. You should just know a few steps which you can follow to lift your bicycle from the front.

    You have to start off by gaining a bit of momentum. Start peddling and soon you’ll know what exactly you should be doing.

    Once you are in momentum, try to stand up on your pedals and get your back off the saddle. Then when you are losing a bit of speed, try to push down on your front shock and as the bike takes a little bump try to pick it up by pulling the handles and lift your wheel.

    Back tire

    This might also seem difficult at first sight but it’s not. All you have to do is to position your hands in such a way that you can push the handle right in front of you. Once you push the handle, you’ll see that the inertia will automatically take you forward. Once you move down with a bit of gravity, then push your handle down and your back tire will move up a little.

    Together

    Now it is your turn to put it all together. You should start off by doing the first step first and then the second first. When you pull this off together, you will be able to do a complete mountain bike bunny hop. Therefore, you should be able to do this simultaneously so that there are no problems for you to complete what you are trying to do.

    First try to pull the front wheel up and then as soon as you land from the first move, just directly try to push down the handle and lift your previous tire up. When you do this repeatedly, you’ll be able to complete a bunny hop on your bike.

    Land

    Now the next thing that will trouble you is the landing. When you will keep practicing the bunny hop, you will one day be jumping quite high. Therefore, coming down for a landing will be difficult for you. So, try to absorb all the pressure through your knees by taking them as close to your bicycle as possible. As soon as you are about to touch the land, release them and stand up on the paddles.
