Etisalat has been around longer, and Du is fairly new, but the latter is constantly rolling out various different telecommunication services that are state of the art and at par with the top mobile service providers in the world. Picking a service provider in UAE is not a difficult decision because there are only two providers, Etisalat and Du, which are allowed to offer mobile phone connections in Dubai. Both of the providers have their outlets in most malls such as Dubai Mall. Generally, people consider Etisalat to be slightly faster than Du in terms of data speed. If you’re picking pay as you go with Du, the procedure is simple:
- Just show them a copy of your passport
- Purchase a SIM card for 100 AED.
- Input the SIM card into your mobile phone and purchase some pay as you go cards, they come in denominations of 20, 50, 100, and 200 AED.
- Load the phone with your balance by pressing 135
- Press option 1
- Press option 3 to recharge with charge card.
