Managed by the Emirates Horse Racing Authority (EHRA), under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is a Minister of Presidential Affairs of United Arab Emirates, the Dubai World Cup is a premier event for fans of the sport.

It brings together the world’s best horse riders who compete against each other in adrenaline pumping races. Dubai World Cup Horse Race gives a chance to the Arab horse breeders to showcase their expertise in front of an international audience.

    History


    It was on 27 March 1996 when 11 strong thoroughbreds stepped on the grounds that HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s dream came true. Dubai World Cup Horse Race is his brainchild – and rightly so, considering his love for horses and horse racing.

    It was the American’ wonder horse Cigar that took the title in the first Dubai World Cup Horse Race and since then, new benchmarks are being set each year.

    Activities


    - Intense horse races in Meydan, catering to true fans of the great sport.
    - The Meydan Grandstand, where the matches take place, have 2 restaurants that are busy serving delicacies to the visitors throughout the tournament. The Parade Ring Restaurant is situated on the ground floor and Tiered Restaurant is on the first floor.
    - The Meydan Grandstand also has 72 luxurious hospitality suites where visitors can entertain guests amidst spectacular views, delectable food and racing excitement!

    Tickets and Entry Requirements


    Although children of 12 and less are admitted for free, but adults have to pay a fee of AED 25  per individual to get to the public areas of the racecourse. The tickets are pre-sold on the night of the race so getting them prior to the race that you want to attend is suggested. Moreover, visitors are not allowed inside the premises of the racecourse with their own food.

    How to Get to Dubai World Cup Horse Race


    There’s no metro near the racecourse ground. The nearest bus stop is Nad Al Shiba and it is at a walking distance of 3.8 kms, which can be covered on foot in 38 minutes. This is why the best option would be to hire a taxi so you can comfortably get to your destination.
