Instructions

  • 1

Lock on to the choice of scenery which you want to recreate in your painting. You can choose anything which you like and are comfortable in drawing. You may choose your own house or some local monument or building, which are quite easy to draw.

  • 2

If you are new to painting do not go for the professional artist sheets or canvases. Take an A4 paper sheet and draw margins of about half an inch on each side. Get a feel of the brush and the colours. Take a simple assignment and spend as much time as you want on it. On completion of the painting, show it to other people to get their approval and suggestions.

Do not be afraid of criticism. Obviously this is your first work and no one expects it to be a master piece. Listen to the drawbacks of the painting in a positive way and try to improve on them. Keep practising on A4 sheets for about a week to get grist of painting with acrylic paints.

After working on A4 sheets it is time to move to stuff which the professional painters use. Purchase a set of scholar sheets and high quality painting paper from a good stationary store. Buy those sheets which are specially designed to be painted with acrylic paints.

Sketch the outline of a tree or mountain on your paper. Put the brush in water for about 5 minutes. Then dip it in a paint of choice and then use it to colour the sketched area on the sheet. You may want to tap off the excess paint in the outer covering of the small container containing the paint or else it will make thick budges of paint on the paper.

When you want to change the paint colour, dip it in the jar of clean water repeatedly till the previously used colour wears off.
