You need to dry up your ears well after being in water, be it for swimming or a simple bath. Dry ears discourage the growth of germs which need water to survive. Tilt your head on one side to drain off the water. You can use cotton buds to dry up the outer ear canal. You can also place a hair dryer near your ear and use it to dry it well. However, do keep a safe distance while doing so.
