How to Assemble a Bicycle Seat
Bicycle seat needs to be very comfortable for you to travel. If you are a professional bike racer, you need to make some adjustments to the seat for your own comfort. Even if the bike’s seat is worn out or damaged, you have to replace it with the new one. Mind you, changing a bike’s seat does not involve much technicalities and you can perform this task at home. All you need is to buy a new bike seat from a hardware store and few simple tools in your garage.

Before starting with the real task of replacing the bike seat, you first need to measure the length of the setback (i.e. the distance between the handle bars of the bike and the seat) and the height of the seat. Once you have determined these measurements, it will be easier for you to properly position the new seat of the bike.

You will need an Allen wrench to unbolt the existing bike seat. You will find the bolts underneath the seat and removing them will enable you to take off the seat from its position. These bolts are actually placed to hold the pair of clamp plates over the seat rail and are the only things keeping the seat affixed in its position.

Remove the bolts first and then the top plate of from the clamp to set the seat free. The old seat is of no use to you and you can simply discard it.

You will see grooves on the tip of the seat post. Take the new bike seat and place its rails under those grooves.

Replace the top plate, which you removed earlier, in its position and place the bolts through the clamp’s bottom plates.

Take the Allen wrench once again and fully tighten the bolts. If these bolts are not tightened fully, the seat will slip from its position once you ride your bike.

Since you have noted down the height and setback of your older seat, it won’t be difficult for you to adjust the measurements of the new seat. The Allen bolt at the bottom of the seat post can be loosened to adjust the height of the seat. As for the setback, the seat can be shifted backwards or forwards within the clamp plates to make the required adjustments.

Straighten up the seat and then fully tighten the bolts to set it in that position.
