How to Broil Tuna Steaks

Tuna, a saltwater fish, is a popular ingredient in salads and can be widely purchased in cans. To take its health benefits a step higher, you can include it in various recipes, one of which broiling tuna steaks. These steaks will not only be rich in protein, but also low in fats and calories. Furthermore, tuna contains the necessary fatty acids, including omega-3, which play an important role in the prevention of conditions such as stroke, cancer, asthma, diabetes and depression. Tuna steaks are not only easy to make but also boost your cardiovascular system, reducing chances of heart diseases.

Utensils: Large mixing bowl, spatula, spoon, baking tray, broiler, large serving platter

Ingredients:
Tuna steaks: 4 (about 2 lbs. total weight) -about 1-inch thick
Salt: To taste
Fresh ground pepper: To taste
Sprigs fresh thyme, finely chopped: 4
Fresh grated ginger: 1 teaspoon
Clove garlic, minced or sliced: 1
Soy sauce: 2 tablespoons
Lemon juice, freshly squeezed: 1 tablespoon
Olive oil: 2 tablespoons

Instructions

    In a large mixing bowl, mix up some salt, freshly ground black pepper, finely chopped sprigs of fresh thyme, 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger, and 1 nicely minced garlic clove.

    Drizzle 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of olive oil over the mixture.

    Now, use a large spoon of wooden ladle to mix up the ingredients for at least 5 minutes or until the salt dissolves completely and all ingredients incorporate well to form a smooth mixture.

    Arrange the 4 tuna steaks on a non-sticking baking tray and spoon the mixture on top. Now brush it all over the tuna steaks until they are thoroughly covered and coated. Use a plastic wrapping sheet to cover the steaks and leave set them aside at room temperature to marinate for at least half an hour to one hour.

    Once the steaks are marinated properly, unseal them and place the baking tray on the rack under your kitchen’s broiler – about 4 to 5 inches from the heat. Broil each side of the tuna steaks for 3 to 5 minutes until they are nicely browned.

    Remove from heat and arrange the broiled tuna steaks on a large platter. Garnish them with some fresh lemon slices or herbs if you want.

    Warm the leftover marinade in your microwave over and drizzle it over the Broiled Tuna Steaks. Serve warm and enjoy.
